I've decided to attempt a run of the Melbourne Marathon on 15 Oct. Having not done one before, I don't know if I can. I just did my first half marathon, and feel a little crazy trying for this.
I am also running Perth's Chevron City to Surf for Activ 21km event at end August to help my training.
I'm doing all this to raise money for a wonderful charity called FAST. This organisation is on the cusp of finding a cure to a rare genetic condition called Angelman Syndrome. The condition impacts children and families in catastrophic ways. We know first hand these impacts.
The future looks bright for this condition as researchers seek to reverse or reduce its impacts. A cure is possible as the cause has been isolated to one gene in one chromosome, and laboratory trials have mostly been successful. Clinical trials are next.
Assist FAST by getting behind me for this Marathon attempt. Their efforts may mean science can find a cure or a treatment, and change the course of our lives.
Your support will be sincerely appreciated by every person touched by this condition.
